Degree Title:
Masters of Public Health with International Development Studies

I am a first year student in the collaborative Masters of Public Health and International Development program. My experience working in Cambodia studying the sodium intake of rural Cambodians, along with my involvement in varsity athletics, has shaped my interest in public health and nutrition. My interests lie primarily in nutrition and the implementation of nutritional requirements and health policies, both domestically and abroad. The international development program has brought together students from various backgrounds and areas of interest. The collaborative nature of the program has enabled students from different departments to discuss current issues in international development, combining insights from a variety of unique perspectives. This experience has helped me realize the interdisciplinary nature of international development, and the importance of looking at issues in this field through a critical lens. As part of the Masters of Public Health program I will be completing a practicum in the summer of 2017. I look forward to utilizing my skills of knowledge translation and health communication to overcome barriers and improve nutrition and food security globally.
