Degree Title:
BA Honours, Major in ID with Area of Emphasis in Latin American Studies
Graduation Date:
2007

I complemented my undergraduate studies at Guelph with several international learning opportunities in Latin America including an exchange through Canada World Youth, the semester abroad program to Cuba through Dalhousie University and semesters abroad in Uruguay and Nicaragua through Letters of Permission. Following my graduation, I participated in a CIDA Young Professionals Internship with World Vision as a Child Rights Support Officer in Nicaragua. I have since returned to the University of Guelph to complete an MA in Latin American & Caribbean Studies (LACS). MA thesis work on the impact of One-to-One Computing on Special Education led to employment as a Latin American Learning Consultant with the global education initiative One Laptop per Child (OLPC). I now serve as the Director of OLPC Canada, a core program of The Belinda Stronach Foundation (TBSF). OLPC Canada strives to empower Aboriginal youth to play an active role in their own education through access to learning centered technology. To date, the program has provided 3600 laptops to Aboriginal youth 6-12 years of age in rural, remote and urban communities located in 7 provinces and 2 territories.
